Gendai Games on Austin StartUp

Friday, September 4th, 2009

New ATI Member company, Gendai Games, was recently mentioned on Austin Startup in a post called GameSalad Gears Up for iPhone Publishing System.  A copy of the original post is below.

GameSalad, an online community created to support amateur and professional game development, launched as an open beta application earlier this year is now preparing for the official release of its long awaited iPhone publishing system. In the next few weeks, Gendai Games will be launching a new service that allows games created with the free GameSalad Creator tool to be marketed and sold on the iPhone App Store.

GameSalad is an open platform that allows non-programmers to create games for the web, social networks like Facebook, and also for iPhone. The application is completely free to download from http://gamesalad.com. The social utility allows users to become game designers, creating their own unique games and offering the ability to connect and collaborate with other users. An innovative technology with a user-friendly interface, GameSalad gives would-be game designers access to complex algorithms necessary for implementing professional-level artificial intelligence and game play, without programming knowledge.

“We’re at an extremely exciting point in our company”, says Gendai Games CEO, Michael Agustin. “The number one feature that everyone has been clamoring for is an easy, more intuitive way to create a game for the iPhone. With GameSalad’s visual based logic system along with it’s drag-and-drop interface – we are poised to make that a reality.”

Smooth-Stone Inc., which is a member of the Austin Technology Incubator and develops low power server technology, will receive an initial $250,000 pre-seed investment from the state with potential for $1 million in total investment for the commercialization of its technology.

“Smooth-Stone’s innovative architecture has the potential to change the server market and keep Texas on the cutting edge of technology,” said Jack McDonald, chairman and CEO of Perficient Inc. and chairman of the Central Texas Regional Center of Innovation and Commercialization.

Barry Evans, CEO of Smooth-Stone, said the server market is catching on to what the mobile phone market has known for nearly 20 years.

“Power consumption matters,” Evans said. “Moore’s law delivers amazing gains in server computer performance, but power and cooling challenges are now front and center. Smooth-Stone is bringing low-power mobile phone technology to servers. We are proud to partner with the Austin Chamber of Commerce, the Central Texas Regional Center of Innovation and Commercialization, the state of Texas and the Austin Technology Incubator to lead the push for truly green datacenters.”

Texas Wireless Summit 2009

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

The seventh annual Texas Wireless Summit will take place on November 5, 2009 at the AT&T Conference Center on the University of Texas campus, hosted by the Austin Wireless Alliance (AWA), the Austin Technology Incubator, and the University of Texas’ Wireless Networking and Communication Group (WNCG)

The Texas Wireless Summit (TWS) will focus on the robust expansion of wireless data networks into new industries, exploring the imminent growth of both wireless technology and the capabilities of industries, such as smart grid, healthcare, and telematics, which rely on it.

The day long Summit will include panel discussions between members of the wireless community who will address questions about which wireless technologies make the most sense for which applications; how wireless solutions can be pervasive and yet not compromise security and privacy; and how individuals and businesses can deploy and manage wireless devices within their homes, offices, cars and cities.

An afternoon showcase from the University of Texas at Austin will highlight research from faculty and students in the Wireless Networking and Communications Group.  Presenters will demonstrate their ideas, sharing groundbreaking innovations with those who have relevant insight and interest.

If you’re interested in attending or sponsoring this fabulous industry and networking event, please contact Laura Benold,  or visit our website: www.twsummit.com.
