ATI, Sevin Rosen Funds and Fish & Richardson Launch 2007 Membership Grants

AUSTIN, Texas July 17, 2007-The Austin Technology Incubator, a business accelerator for technology startup companies and a program of the IC2 Institute and The University of Texas at Austin, announces its 2007 membership grant programs sponsored by Sevin Rosen Funds and Fish & Richardson P.C.

Sevin Rosen Funds, a leading capital venture firm, has created entrepreneurial grants to sponsor selected companies at the Austin Technology Incubator. Recipients receive financial support and mentoring from Sevin Rosen partners to shape business strategies, identify strategic partners and acquire customers.

“Like the Austin Technology Incubator, Sevin Rosen Funds’ mission is to accelerate the growth of pioneering, early-stage technology companies,” said Al Schuele, general partner at Sevin Rosen Funds. “With a history of incubating once fledging companies like Compaq, SRF enjoys working with ATI to create environments where emerging companies can thrive.”

The newest Austin Technology Incubator grant is sponsored by Fish & Richardson P.C., a national law firm with the largest intellectual property practice in the world and rapidly growing corporate and commercial litigation practices.

Fish & Richardson will provide grant recipients with discounts from the standard billing rates and/or payment deferral options on intellectual property and corporate legal services.

“We are thrilled to be entering into this relationship with the Austin Technology Incubator,” Kin Gill, a corporate principal, said. “The full range of services that we can offer to startup technology companies, from intellectual property counseling to labor and employment and corporate work, should be yet another facet of the value proposition that ATI offers its member companies.”

To apply to the program and qualify for the grants, companies are asked to submit their business plans to the Austin Technology Incubator with authorization to share it with Sevin Rosen Funds and Fish & Richardson. A select number of companies will be invited to present to the Austin Technology Incubator, Sevin Rosen and Fish & Richardson for admission into the Austin Technology Incubator. Grants will be awarded on a competitive basis to new companies that are admitted into the Austin Technology Incubator.

“A significant part of what we do is to facilitate privileged access to experienced and knowledgeable capital sources and advice,” said Isaac Barchas, director of the Austin Technology Incubator. “These grant programs exemplify and embody that value.”
