| | | | Isaac Barchas, Director, Austin Technology Incubator Isaac Barchas took over as the head of ATI in April, 2006. He works with companies across all of the ATI verticals - IT, Wireless, Clean Energy, and Biosciences. In addition, he is responsible for ATI's strategic direction and for evolving the ATI economic model. He also supports the global commercialization programs run out of the IC2 Institute. Prior to joining ATI, Isaac worked with McKinsey & Company, an international management consultancy, for 8 years. His practice focused on business building (start-up and spin-out support) in a variety of industries, including biotechnology, software, wireless telecoms, and Internet retail. He was also one of the leaders of McKinsey's North American healthcare practice. He was a member of the McKinsey offices in Chicago, Sydney, Auckland, Dallas, and London. Isaac has also published in the Washington Post, the Wall Street Journal, and the Chicago Tribune, among other outlets. Isaac did his undergraduate work at Stanford University, and then went on to the University of Chicago for his master's and law degrees. | | | |  | Aruni Gunasegaram, ATI Operations Aruni Gunasegaram joined ATI in June 2008 to manage operations and finance. She is responsible for the internal operations of ATI as well as supporting ATI companies from an operational perspective across all verticals-IT, Wireless, Clean Energy, and Biosciences. She is also responsible for management of ATI's finances which include assistance with grant compliance with ATI's external funding sources. Aruni is a serial entrepreneur who is well networked in the Austin community. She is the founder/CEO of Babble Soft, a company that offers web and wireless based solutions to new parents, and she blogs at entrepreMusings.com. Previously, she was the founding CEO of a venture funded ATI alumni company, Isochron Data Corporation, which sold web and wireless solutions in to the well-established soft drink vending industry. Isochron was sold in 2002. After leaving Isochron, she taught entrepreneurship for two years at The University of Texas at Austin McCombs School of Business. She also consulted for small businesses and is a published author on the topic of success and entrepreneurship in two university alumni magazines. Previously, she worked as a staff accountant at Dresser Industries (now Halliburton) and KPMG Peat Marwick. Aruni received her undergraduate degree and her MBA from The University of Texas at Austin. | | | | | Bart Bohn, Director, ATI IT and Wireless Bart Bohn is the Director of the ATI Wireless and Information Technology Incubators. He is responsible for identifying promising early stage companies and providing them with the necessary strategic business assistance needed to help them achieve their growth objectives. Bart has significant experience in advising companies on strategic issues and working with executive teams to identify and pursue strategic objectives. Before joining ATI, Bart was an engagement manager with BearingPoint consulting and advised clients on strategy, strategy development, strategy implementation and business process design. He was the founding engagement manager of BearingPoint's Energy Strategy practice and was responsible for designing the methodologies for the core offerings and building the team. In addition to serving energy clients, he served clients in the professional services, software, banking, and utilities industries. Bart is currently on the Executive Team of the Austin Wireless Alliance, a non-profit association promoting the growth of the wireless industry in Central Texas and on the Planning Board for MobileMonday Austin. Additionally, Bart serves on the board of Turn2Live, a live music oriented Austin startup. Bart holds a MBA from The University of Texas at Austin, a BS in Chemical Engineering and a BS in Finance from Trinity University. | | | |  | Jessica Hanover, Director, ATI Bioscience Jessica Hanover started as Director of ATI-Bioscience in July 2008. She is responsible for identifying promising early-stage companies that are developing technologies relevant to the life sciences space, including diagnostics, tools, medical devices, drug therapies, and others. In this role, Jessica will also be responsible for admitting companies into the ATI and providing them with the necessary operational and strategic business support they need as they work to grow and obtain necessary capital. Before joining ATI, Jessica worked independently with companies in the biotechnology space across many corporate functions, including scientific affairs, marketing and business development. For two years prior, she served most recently as Senior Director of Strategy at FoxHollow Technologies (merged with ev3 Inc. in late 2007), a cardiovascular medical device company based in Redwood City, California and focused on the treatment of peripheral artery disease. At FoxHollow, Jessica's responsibilities included strategic planning, competitive intelligence, and R&D pipeline management. Before FoxHollow, Jessica worked for three years as an Equity Research Associate Analyst on the Biotechnology team at Robert W. Baird & Co. in Chicago, providing investment advice to the insitutional investor community on biotechnology stocks, including Genentech, Amgen, Biogen Idec, Millennium Pharmaceuticals, and others. Jessica holds a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University of California, San Francisco, and she received her A.B. in Applied Mathematics from Harvard University. | | | |  | Tab Ebrahim, Assistant Director, ATI Clean Energy Tab is the Assistant Director with the Clean Energy Incubator, focusing on energy, environmental, and materials initiatives. Previously, he was an Associate with the Clean Energy Incubator, a Senior Development Engineer at Eastman Kodak Company, and an Engineering Intern at DVC Company. Tab earned his BS in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin, MS in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University, and a Certificate in Entrepreneurship from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. He is an inventor on one issued U.S. patent and one pending patent and is a graduate of the Leadership Austin's Emerge Program. | | | |  | Melissa Rabeaux, Marketing/Communications Melissa Rabeaux is in charge of all marketing and communications activities for the Clean Energy Incubator. Melissa brings to CEI over 12 years experience managing the design, development and delivery of integrated marketing and sales strategies through strategic planning, delivery of content, marketing activities and deliverables that positively promotes a company's image, shapes customer impressions and secures market share. Melissa holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Southwestern Louisiana. | | | |  | Shannon Lundquist, Administrative Associate Shannon has been "the face of ATI" since joining the staff in September of 2005. She manages the front office, is the liaison between ATI and guests, and provides administrative support developing companies as well as the Director of ATI, and its divisions: CEI, BIo and the Wireless Division. Shannon is the mother of two boys, a decorated veteran, and has been a proud Texan since the fourth grade. She has worked in education for 9 years and is currently working to finish her undergraduate degree at The University of Texas at Austin. | | | | | | | | | |
